Chief Warrant Officer 3 Rios, a local Elkhart High School graduate, enlisted in the Army in 1993 and retired in 2013 after 20 years of service. Chief Rios accomplishments include receiving the Bronze Star during Operation Iraqi Freedom, The President's Volunteer Service Award, Omar Bradley Award Finalist, a Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, Airborne School, military exercises in Israel, Poland, Korea and Germany. Chief Rios has been a Police Officer, a Child Protective Service Officer, a Mailman, currently a Parole Officer and is the Commander at our local VFW Post #8924 here in Palestine. Chief Rios has 5 daughters and 9 grandchildren and is soon to be married to Stephanie Harrison, the Auxiliary President for Post 8924.
